Katya Gorrie Trio
About Katya Gorrie Trio
The Katya Gorrie Trio are back at The Roses for a night of Jazz.
Singer and composer Katya Gorrie – front woman for Moscow Drug Club – returns to her jazz and blues roots, teaming up with crack collaborators Will Harris on bass and Andy Bowen on guitar. Celebrating the music of Julie London, Peggy Lee and Blossom Dearie, Gorrie’s sultry tone and phrasing allows the song’s lyric to tell its beautiful story.
Bassist Will Harris is best known for his lynchpin role in The Jazz Defenders, with whom he has toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe, but he has long been a stalwart of the West Country jazz scene appearing regularly with Iain Ballamy, David Newton and Andy Sheppard. He studied under Dave Holland at the Royal Academy of Music and has toured with US saxophone legend Chris Potter, as well as UK rising stars Matt Anderson and Jonny Mansfield.
Andy Bowen is a jazz guitarist, composer arranger and educator based in the South-West of England. Andy specialises in the jazz and swing music of the 1930s and 40s.He divides his time between playing with Django Reinhardt inspired ensemble ‘Swing from Paris’ and popular Bristol based ‘Moscow Drug Club’. With both acts he has played at many prestigious jazz festivals both in the UK and internationally.
Music in Eric's Bar
Our doors will be open from 6.30pm, so please arrive in good time to find a seat, relax and let us pour you a drink. The bar itself will not be serving during the performance, as we give our full attention to the musicians, but it will open at all other times, including the interval.
Don't forget we now do food, too - why not book a table from 6pm and enjoy a meal before the evening's music? Email kitchen@rosestheatre.org to reserve your table.
