About the Mayor's charities
Friends of Alderman Knight School
The Friends of Alderman Knight School was founded in 1992 and exists to fundraise money which is used to enhance the learning environment and provide extra-curricular opportunities for pupils at Alderman Knight School and their families.
The Friends is run by a committee, comprised of staff, parents and members of the local community, who are elected annually at our AGM. Committee roles include the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, as well as general committee members. Our Annual General Meeting and accompanying coffee morning is an opportunity for families to meet members of the Friends committee and each other.
Throughout the year, the Friends organise a number of regular and one-off fundraising events, such as the annual Christmas Cheer event, Raffle and Summer Fair.
Severn Area Rescue Association
SARA is an Inshore Lifeboat and Inland Search and Rescue organisation covering the River Severn, its estuary and the surrounding area. Its Tewkesbury station was established in 2008, following the devastating floods the year previously.
SARA supports HM Coastguard and Police, Fire & Rescue and Ambulance Services 24/7, 365 days of the year.
SARA is an independent organisation, and is a member of the South West England Rescue Association (SWERA).
With thanks to Clive Woolford Motor Engineers and Charles Carter Lettings for their generous support of this event.
