News Story

Today is World Mental Health Day, and we’re pleased to share that Georgia Shire, our Youth and Education Producer, has just completed a two-day Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course! Georgia now has some great tools to help support the mental health of young people in our programmes and community.

World Mental Health Day, is a reminder of how important it is to talk about mental health, especially for our youth. At The Roses, we’re all about creating a safe and welcoming space where young people can thrive, not just as artists but as individuals.

During the training, Georgia learned about important topics such as anxiety, depression, and self-harm, and how to start supportive conversations about these issues. With her new skills, Georgia is ready to step in and help young people who might be struggling, ensuring they get the support they need and connecting them to professional help if necessary.

“Supporting mental health is just as important as encouraging creativity,” Georgia shared. “This training has given me the confidence to really understand and assist the young people we work with, making sure they feel safe and supported.”

As we mark World Mental Health Day, we want to emphasize our dedication to mental health awareness and support. If you’d like to learn more about our youth programmes, feel free to reach out to Georgia at georgia.shire@rosestheatre.org.
